Our Hello

Terms of use

Last updated 3 November 2026 · Our Hello 1.0 for iPhone and Android phones

In an emergency, call 911. Our Hello doesn't detect emergencies or call 911, and it may not work when you need it. Don't wait on the app, or on your family, to get help.

In short: Our Hello is free; Our Hello Circle is an optional paid subscription. Our Hello isn't a medical device, a monitoring service or an emergency service. Reminders, alerts and the people in your Circle aren't guaranteed to reach you or respond, so don't rely on Our Hello alone. We provide it as it is, and our liability is limited as far as the law allows. The full terms below are what count.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Byte Logic Company (“we”, “us”), which makes Our Hello. By downloading or using Our Hello, including joining someone's Circle as a family member, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, don't use Our Hello.

You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to use Our Hello. If you set Our Hello up for someone else, do it only with their agreement; you accept these terms for your own use of it and for theirs.

Not an emergency or monitoring service

Our Hello is a tool for a daily routine, reminders and reaching people you choose. It isn't a medical device, a personal emergency response system, a monitoring centre or an emergency service. It doesn't detect falls, emergencies or anything about your health, and nothing in Our Hello is medical advice.

  • A missed hello doesn't alert anyone.
  • Medicine reminders are reminders only. Our Hello doesn't track whether you took a dose, and the names and times come from you. Follow the instructions of your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Using Our Hello doesn't create a professional or caregiving relationship with us.

In an emergency

Call 911, or your local emergency number. Our Hello doesn't contact emergency services. Call 911 on the Get help screen only opens your phone's dialer, and calling or texting your people only opens your phone's call or message screen; nothing happens until you place the call or tap Send. Never delay calling for help because of anything Our Hello shows, or doesn't show, or while waiting for someone in your Circle.

Our Hello Circle

Circle is an optional paid subscription that lets the person who subscribes invite up to five family members. When that person taps Get help, Circle sends a notification to the members who accepted. Family members join free.

  • Circle only works when the person taps Get help. It doesn't call 911 and it doesn't detect anything.
  • Notifications can be late, silenced or not delivered, and a family member may not see one, may not be able to help, or may not respond. We don't promise that anyone will be told, will respond, or will respond in any time.
  • If you join someone's Circle, you do so freely. You're not our agent or employee, and we don't direct what you do. If you think the person may be in danger, call 911.
  • Invite only people who have agreed to be in your Circle, using phone numbers you're allowed to share.
  • Circle needs an active subscription, an internet connection and notifications allowed on each phone. If the subscription ends, Circle alerts stop.

No guarantee that Our Hello works

We work hard to make Our Hello dependable, but we don't promise that any part of it will work every time, on time or without errors. That includes I'm OK and your history, reminders and other notifications, Get help, Circle alerts, calling and texting buttons, the widget, and backup and restore.

These features depend on things we don't control, such as your phone and its settings, the operating system, notification permissions, Focus or Do Not Disturb, battery saving, signal, your carrier, the internet, and services from Apple, Google and others. For example:

  • A reminder or alert can arrive late, or not at all.
  • A call or text may not connect or be delivered, and Our Hello can't confirm that it was.
  • The Circle server or a service it uses can be unavailable.
  • An update to your phone or to Our Hello can change how a feature behaves.

Don't rely on Our Hello as your only way to reach help. Make sure the people around you know how to reach you without the app.

Your information and your part

The privacy policy explains what stays on your phone and what Circle sends to our server. You're responsible for:

  • what you enter, and keeping it accurate and up to date;
  • asking people before you add them or invite them to your Circle;
  • keeping your phone secure, and saving backups if you want them. We can't recover anything that's lost or erased on your phone;
  • any phone, data or messaging charges from your carrier.

Your license to use Our Hello

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Our Hello on phones you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and the rules of the store you got it from. We, and our licensors, keep all rights in Our Hello, including its design, text, code and name.

You agree not to copy, modify, sell or redistribute Our Hello; not to reverse engineer it, except where the law allows; not to interfere with the Circle server; and not to use Our Hello unlawfully or to harass anyone, including through invites or messages.

Price, subscriptions and changes

Our Hello is free. Our Hello Circle is a subscription sold through the App Store or Google Play at the price shown before you buy. It renews automatically until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their terms; we can't issue refunds for them.

We may change, suspend or stop offering Our Hello, Circle or any feature. If we stop offering Circle, we'll tell subscribers in the app first and stop renewals. Price changes follow the store's rules, including any notice they require.

No warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, Our Hello and Our Hello Circle are provided “as is” and “as available”, with all faults and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. We disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and that Our Hello will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free of errors.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Byte Logic Company and its owners, employees, contractors and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, illness, death, or loss of data, arising out of or related to Our Hello, Our Hello Circle or these terms. This includes harm from a reminder, alert, call, text or other feature that fails, is late or is wrong, from a family member who doesn't see an alert or doesn't respond, and from relying on anything shown in Our Hello. This applies whatever the legal theory, including contract, tort (including negligence), product liability or otherwise, and even if we were told such harm was possible.

Our total liability for all claims about Our Hello or these terms is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Our Hello Circle in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.

Some states don't allow some of these exclusions or limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Where that's the case, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can't be limited by law.

Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and compensate Byte Logic Company against claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that come from your misuse of Our Hello or your breach of these terms.

App Store and Google Play

If you got Our Hello from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, together with these terms. You and we agree that:

  • these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for Our Hello and its content;
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Our Hello;
  • if Our Hello fails to meet a warranty that applies by law, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for it (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation for Our Hello;
  • Apple isn't responsible for any claims about Our Hello, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property. We are, to the extent these terms say;
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

If you got Our Hello from Google Play, Google Play's terms apply to the download and to Circle purchases, and these terms apply to your use of Our Hello. Google isn't responsible for Our Hello.

Wherever you got Our Hello, you confirm that you aren't in a country under a US government embargo or designated by the US government as “terrorist supporting”, and that you aren't on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Our Hello at any time by deleting it and cancelling any Circle subscription. We may end your license, or remove you from Circle, if you break these terms. The sections on not being an emergency service, Circle's limits, warranties, liability, indemnity and governing law keep applying after these terms end.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you have a problem with Our Hello, please email us first, and give us 30 days to try to put it right. Any claim that we can't resolve that way must be brought in the state or federal courts located in DuPage County, Illinois, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction. This doesn't take away any right your local consumer law gives you to bring a claim where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when Our Hello gains a new feature. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change is significant, we'll say so in the app or on this page before it takes effect. Using Our Hello after a change means you accept the updated terms.

General

These terms, the privacy policy and the terms of the store you got Our Hello from are the whole agreement between you and us about Our Hello. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, that part is limited as little as possible and the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't given up the right to. You can't transfer these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them if Our Hello changes hands.
